The easiest place to start learning about the paranormal is to define the term “paranormal”. It literally means: anything out of the ordinary or considered not natural. Another definition is: “of a supernatural nature”.

It is here we discover all that interests us in our quest for the unknown. Supernatural events include (but are not limited to):

That list could go on forever and I will explain each of those in greater detail later on. These things make up the smallest percent of this field. However it is to be mentioned that the above list is the “meat and potatoes” of what truly interests us as investigators.

Hollywood Hype, Science Fiction Wonder, Television Ratings or Actual Happenings

Whether it is Hollywood, science fiction, books, television or actual events in our own lives; mankind is driven to understand and explain the paranormal. We write books and scripts for movies about the paranormal and even entire holidays based on its superstitions. People have been trying to prove or disprove and claiming paranormal events for centuries maybe even millennia.

Who knows maybe primitive man even had these thoughts and experiences. Where the paranormal gains great discredit is where the human imagination takes over the logical portions of the human psyche. Hollywood, TV, and Sci-Fi all have one thing in common; sell in what “the business” calls marketing gimmicks.

What I will provide you with is an open medium to help you decipher “marketing gimmicks” from what investigators actually experience. In time you will develop a “radar” for determining hype from actual theory and be able to explore your own curiosities more freely without the fear that those gimmicks instills in us.
