Orb Hunters, Paranormal Investigation or Rookie Indulgence?

Most of us when we become interested in the paranormal we learn about orbs and become Orb Hunters. Those little pesky balls of light fascinate and inspire, that is until we learn what they really are. Orbs, as mentioned on the prior page, are consisted of electromagnetic energy (EME) but what wasn’t mentioned is that dust can cause these anomalies too.

On the web are a slew of “ORB” pictures with captions swearing that they represent ghosts or spirits. It is this misinformation coupled with a few misguided so called professionals that fuels these orb hunters. I would say about ninety five percent of all orb pictures and videos are none other than dust.

Dust is very easy to contaminate evidence as even the cleanest of individuals will kick up a small dust storm when walking. It is this that most orb hunters are considerably most successful in capturing and to the untrained eye the most impressive photos and videos. So how can we tell the difference between “real orbs” and “dust orbs”?

The characteristics of “Real Orbs” are:

  • Orbs Generate their own light

  • They more often than not have a tail

  • They are very often elliptical in shape due to movement

  • Orbs move fast

  • Orbs have very erratic flight plans/ paths

  • Usually found as loners not together in packs

  • With that being said here are the characteristics of “Dust Orbs”:

  • Dust orbs “Reflect” light

  • Dust orbs never have a tail

  • They are almost always round in shape

  • Dust floats, so it lingers and moves very slow

  • Dust has a very clear defined flight plan/ path

  • Dust orbs travel in packs

  • Dust orbs are going to be in ninety eight percent of all your pictures. This is why most investigators ignore orbs (real or dust), they are just too easy to debunk. As with all evidence if you could explain it so could everyone else especially skeptics.

Other things such as insects, water droplets and a dirty camera lens can also cause “false positive” orbs too. Insects will still reflect light but will have a tail and elliptical appearance like real orbs. Water droplets will also reflect light but will exhibit the multi colored look of real orbs and dirty lenses will sometimes have the elliptical and tail like appearance even though there is no light required for them.

    Orb Analysis

So you are hell bent on analyzing orbs huh? Ok I will offer you some tips to orb analysis. Lets try a little experiment, to start off you could wait until; its dark but for the sake of doing this now lets find a dark room without windows. Using your digital camera you will need to snap at least sixty pictures, making sure to take different angles, once you are done upload them into your computer.

You may right off the bat omit all the pictures without orbs leaving you with about fifty five pictures. Now to note there may be at least one real orb in this set however unlikely. Now look at all the orbs you caught, all the grayish hued orbs you now see are dust, none of them have tails and most if not all are round not elliptical.

How did I know this you ask, I have done this experiment myself when I was new at this too. Yes I in my rookie months was an orb hunter and like other orb hunters I thought I hit the paranormal gold mine. Truth is I didn’t and neither did you just now, hard truth but essential to progress your education in this field.

Real orbs Generate their own light not reflect it like dust does. This gives them a funky multicolored appearance it also means without a flash you will still catch it on film. Real orbs remember are “natural” EME balled up not spirits.

Real orbs also have a tail whereas dust does not have said tails. The tail is a byproduct of their movement and generated light streaking on film. This is due to the relatively fast movement of real orbs as opposed to the slow float of dust.

Did you notice in our experiment that there were pictures with multiple “orbs” in them? Real orbs are usually caught all by themselves whereas when you kept moving you kicked up dust. This dust was reflecting the flash from your camera and showing up as multiple “Dust Orbs”.

The difference in flight plans/ paths would only be noticeable on video camera as still photography (like its name insists) doesn’t move. A trick on video is the “speed illusion”, while the dust is moving slow it will pass your camera and will reflect the IR (infrared) night shot. The light will only reflect for a second or two but the dust will still be moving the same speed giving the illusion that it zipped by the camera lens when in reality it didn’t.

Real orbs have very erratic and unpredictable flight plans/ paths. They move about at high speeds in multiple directions often changing in mid-flight. Dust orbs mainly stay in one clear defined path and unless some movement from you or someone in the area occurs it will continue that path.

    Paranormal Investigation or Rookie Indulgence

Orb hunters are usually rookies looking to break into the investigation field with very little experience in investigations. Though some “professionals” do orb hunt they aren’t accepted as credible sources of information by the seasoned veterans of the field. It is common to the more seasoned and experienced investigators to ignore orbs altogether.

Orb hunters usually learn the truth relatively quickly and eventually become paranormal investigators. Now that you know the truth you are well on your way to joining the ranks of the multitudes of investigators worldwide. The more you know the more reputable and credible you sound, never stop learning.
